Counter display unit case study

THE BRIEF

Muc-Off had the vision to create a counter display unit (CDU) which uniquely displays everything a rider needs to keep their helmet looking smart. We were given a sample bottle of cleaner, a cloth and the desired quantity of each element per CDU.

THE CONCEPT

We modelled the CDU against a branded helmet. Initially designed with a visor, but this was seen as being too fragile in store, so it was removed. Using the sample product and quantities provided, we could estimate the CDU size.

PROTOTYPES

After the drawings were signed off, a white prototype was produced. This enabled the look and feel to be approved before creating a cutter-guide for the artwork. A fully printed prototype was then supplied prior to final production.

PRODUCTION

2,300 units were produced, all pre-taped and flat-packed for distribution, saving money on distribution costs. A full instruction sheet was supplied with each unit for easy assembly in store.
