Earth Day 2024:

Planet vs Plastics

Reducing plastic use at Opus Print

The theme for this year’s Earth Day (April 22nd 2024) is all about reducing and ending the use of plastics. At Opus Print, we’ve been working hard to make positive changes to our print material options and packaging solutions and these changes reflect our own sustainability values to help create a more sustainable world.

We’ve been making positive progress on our environmental journey by introducing a range of PVC-free materials to clients. PVC-free materials refer to products and materials that do not contain polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

Our growing range of PVC-free materials includes:

  • Triaprint®, a PVC-free, environmentally sustainable alternative to PVC and Foamex display boards and is 100% recyclable.
  • High Impact Polystyrene (or HIPS for short) is 100% recyclable, with lightweight properties.
  • Corrugated board, an FSC endorsed board, used for large format signs, banners and Free-Standing Display Units (FSDUs). A biodegradable, recyclable and economical option.
  • Stadur boards are a low weight, rigid, material used for a variety of indoor and outdoor applications.

We have also been working closely with our clients to help them reduce their plastic use and achieve their own sustainability goals.

Overall, our printed deliverables are tracking at over 95% PVC-free.  Our aim, in the very near future, is to be 100% PVC-free for all our print projects.

We have also made the switch to plastic free packaging. Our eco-friendly bubble wrap is an eco bio-degradable alternative, helping ours (and your) eco-credentials. And the tape we use for packing is a paper based, adhesive tape. Good for you, good for the planet.
